BIOFUEL ADVANCED RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, LLC. (BARD) is
a limited liability company incorporated in the state of
Pennsylvania, USA. The company currently has its
administrative office at 1167 Bridge Street, Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. The biodiesel production plant and solvent
extraction plant will be located on a 37 acres site at the
Keystone Industrial Port Complex (KIPC), a 2,200 acre
industrial/manufacturing zone, which was the former site for
US Steel. The site has direct access to a deep water port
managed by Kinder Morgan, over 75 miles of rail with two
Class 1 Railroads (NS and CSX), and access to three
independent power generating stations. The site has been
designated as a KOIZ (Keystone Opportunity Improvement Zone)
which provides 14 years of tax exemptions from state, local,
and other taxes. The site is also home to three other
alternative energy companies covering wind, solar and
ethanol.
BARD has received its Air Quality Permit from the
Department of Environmental Protection of the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania. The air quality permit is the most
important and time consuming permit for this type of
facility.
BARD has entered in to an agreement with Tech-Start India
and CCIL of India, the authorized technology
collaborator a German engineering and equipment firm that is
providing leading edge technology in the field of biodiesel
production. Tech-Start/CCIL will provide an end-to-end
solution that will give BARD a strong technical position
versus competitors. BARD has hired Langan Engineering and
Environmental Services Inc. of Philadelphia for all
required environmental site engineering and permits. Langan
is a premier provider of integrate land development
engineering and environment consulting services. BARD has
signed contracts with local engineering consulting firms for
all plant engineering, storage, transportation design and
construction. The BARD facility will be fully automated and
will operate on an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
platform supplied by SAP. This will allow BARD to fully
track and evaluate all aspects of the supply chain and
production processes. BARD’s management has strong
backgrounds in chemical and biodiesel engineering, finance,
commodity trading, systems management, and quality control.
BARD has entered into a five year contract with
Eco-Energy to handle the sale and delivery of all of the
biodiesel manufactured at this facility. Eco-Energy, Inc. of
Franklin, TN is the largest alternative fuel trader in the
United States. BARD has also entered into and five year
contract with FC Stone to provide all necessary
soybeans for the solvent extraction process. FC Stone is the
largest commodity trader in the United States. FC Stone will
market for sale the excess soy oil produced by the
extraction plant. BARD has negotiated a contract with
Commodity Specialists Company (CSC) to market the
residual products created by the solvent extraction plant.
The products CSC will market are soy meal and soy hull
pellets. CSC has a healthy mix of domestic and international
operation giving them stability in the market.
